Saskatoon, welcome to the holiday season.
The last month of the year has arrived, and with it comes all the trappings of winter festivity: houses are draped in lights, cheeks and noses are red above warm scarves, and a hot drink has never sounded so inviting. Last month we challenged you, our chiropractic community, to say YES to something new and unexpected in your lives. Now that Yes-vember has ended, we’d love to know what you’ve said “yes” to recently, and whether you’re planning to keep saying “yes” into the new year.
The business of a new year’s resolution can be stressful and overwhelming, which is why we introduced Yes-vember instead - we find it’s a great way to try something new with less pressure than when that something new feels required instead of inspired. It’s also such a great feeling to enter the new year with the knowledge that there’s something new in your life that brings joy and interest. So, for the rest of 2022, let’s keep it rolling into Yes-cember! Our challenge is simple: find something you love, and keep doing it.
In December, our holidays and hours are as follow:
Dr Hanne will be away from December 16-17.
Dr Ali will be gone on December 10.
Dr Janine will be away from December 19-20.
Dr Lindsey will be out of office from December 27-28.
Kim will be gone from December 22-28.
Suzanne will be away on December 5 and from Dec. 22-27.
Carmen will be gone from December 22-31.
The clinic will be closed from December 24-26 for Christmas.
We will be open on December 31, New Years Eve!
Heads up: we will be open with reduced hours and select practitioners on January 2. Dr Janine and Dr Ali will be in the clinic from 10am-6pm, while Kim and Carmen both have massage openings in the morning and early afternoon. Can you believe it’s nearly 2023?!
Foundation fun fact
For December’s article, we want to end the year on a warm and cozy note. Hop over to our blog for an open letter from Dr Hanne directly to you, our patients - plus, you’ll learn about the Norwegian tradition of hygge and how it helps you care for yourself during the long winter!
Massage pricing will be changing in 2023.
All massage rates will be subject to a $5 increase beginning January 2, 2023. Kim, Michael, Ashley, and Carmen offer standard massages (first column) while Suzanne provides rapid/RNFR treatments (second column). Our RMT revised rates for 2023 are as follows:
Standard / RNFR & rapid
15 minutes —- $40 /// 15 minutes rapid —- $55
30 minutes —- $60 /// 30 minutes rapid —- $80
45 minutes —- $75 /// 45 minutes rapid —- $90
60 minutes —- $90 /// 60 minutes RNFR —- $95
75 minutes —- $105 /// 75 minutes RNFR —- $110
90 minutes —- $120 /// 90 minutes RNFR —- $125
As of late November, we have opened our massage bookings with all RMTs for next year!
Chiropractors’ cooking club
The Christmas season is traditionally filled with rich, heavy foods, often involving red meat and cream-based sauces. For our December recipe, we’ve picked a lighter but still flavorful alternative. BBC Goodfood’s Spinach Kedgeree Spiced Salmon is chock-full of seasonal and common spices, aromatic herbs and vegetables, and is topped with toasted almonds. It’s also a great pescatarian recipe to have on hand for Christmas dinners for those who may eat fish but not red meat or poultry. An added bonus is the omega-3 fatty acids in the salmon - the ‘good’ fatty acids found in fish aid in the healthy function of multiple systems in your body. While the original recipe yields two servings, it can easily be doubled, tripled, or more to serve a party. Tell us: what’s your go-to healthy holiday meal?
Plus: a bonus monthly recipe in the form of a side dish! These Beautiful Brussels Sprouts add gorgeous colour to your table, pair well with vegetarian or pescatarian side dishes, and are a snap to make.
Just a reminder - we are a scent-free environment. To ensure the comfort of everyone coming into the clinic, we ask that strong scents not be worn to appointments. Thank you!
We are running a new donation drive for December - this month, we’re collecting food items for the Saskatoon Food Bank. We are also running a prize draw in collaboration with the food drive! You have a chance to win a fresh, handmade holiday wreath lovingly made by our doctors - check out our Instagram to see the wreaths they made for themselves last week! The draw can be entered by bringing in a non-perishable food item donation any time before December 17th - and multiple donations are welcomed (one entry allowed per day). We’re grateful for your support!
Our 2022 Winter Sock Drive has ended! Thanks to your contributions, we collected 431 pairs of new socks (almost 200 pairs more than last year!!) just in time for Christmas. Your donations will be distributed across the province via the Salvation Army to those in need of warm clothes for winter. We appreciate your support of this sock drive, year after year!
Happy holidays from all of us at Foundation Chiropractic - we hope you have a wonderful festive season! We wish you a Happy New Year as well. We’ll see you with this newsletter in 2023!
