Happy Valentine’s Day from FC, Saskatoon!
February is a time to celebrate love, so we at Foundation Chiropractic want to encourage our patients to join us in loving and appreciating our bodies and all that they do for us! Our bodies allow us to experience all the best things that life has to offer. They enable us to hug our families, laugh with our friends, sing in the shower, try exciting new foods, travel and explore the world around us, make mistakes and learn from them, and so much more!
Our bodies are our homes, so it’s important that we take care of them. This month we wanted to provide some ideas of ways you can show your body gratitude and care and keep it functioning at its best:
Book a chiropractic adjustment from Dr Lindsey, Dr Janine, Dr Hanne, or Dr Ali.
Schedule a massage with Ashley, Kim, Michael, Suzanne, or Carmen.
Get outside and enjoy the winter air. Visit Optimist Hill for some sledding, skiing, or snowboarding, go skating at one of the city’s 50+ outdoor rinks, check out the Forestry Farm Park & Zoo, or go for a walk on the beautiful Meewasin Trail!
Get cozy inside. Curl up with a mug of something warm (hot cocoa, tea, coffee, whatever your preference is) and a good book or your favourite movie for a relaxing night in!
Unwind with a nice hot bath. Epsom salts, bubbles, or a bath bomb can really enhance the relaxation!
Meet up with a friend at your favourite local coffee shop or restaurant. Good food and good conversation are always a great combination!
Move your body. Go for a short walk, do some stretches at home, workout at the gym, take a yoga class, try a martial art - anything that gets your body moving!
How will you be showing your body some love and appreciation this month? Leave us a comment and let us know - we would love to hear your ideas!
In February, we’ll have the following availability for our chiropractors and RMTs:
Dr Janine will be gone February 16-17 and the 27-28.
Dr Lindsey will be off on February 3.
Carmen will be gone February 13.
Suzanne will be away on February 24.
Heads up: the clinic will be closed on Monday, February 20 for Family Day.
Foundation fun fact
Dr Janine, one of our co-founders here at Foundation Chiropractic, first discovered the benefits of chiropractic care as a patient herself. It’s a profession that “gives [her] so much satisfaction” today, but her introduction to chiropractic stemmed from a significant injury in 1993 that required months of healing and wondering whether the academic track she was on was the right one for her. A chance recommendation from a friend resulted in Dr Janine’s post-injury introduction to her first chiropractor, which eventually led to her own Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2002, a stint in Amsterdam, and a career in Saskatoon! Chiropractors’ cooking club
For Valentine’s Day this month, we’ve picked a sweet treat for our featured recipe. These vegan Coconut Goji No-Bake Raw Cookies are a healthier alternative to the classic butter- and sugar-filled recipes we typically envision when thinking about making cookies. Sprinkle of Green’s raw cookies, by contrast, only use half a cup of sugar, ideally coconut sugar; the recipe instead depends on shredded coconut for its sweetness and flavour. These cookies are also a great pick for our lactose-intolerant friends, as they contain no dairy products. The presence of goji berries gives this recipe a great antioxidant kick, and adds multiple vitamins and minerals to your dessert. Like the recipe author, we suggest cutting your cookies into hearts to celebrate February - so fitting for the season!
*Dried goji berries are available at the Great Asian Market near 8th Street and may also be found at Bulk Barn.
To show our community some love, we’re offering a complimentary coffee or tea on us for patients coming in on February 10! Make sure to give us a call to book your appointment for the 10th. We will have juice boxes for pediatric appointments too!
